Presentation
Flow:
Ann Dozier of Coca-Cola
Customer Business Solutions will begin the BIECC-sponsored seminar by
talking about the direct-store-delivery (DSD) industry as a whole. Dozier will
describe what Coca-Cola does, share tangible results and communicate business
benefits. Dozier will explain three-tier similarities since Coca-Cola handles
diverse packages and downstream operational efficiencies. Lastly, Dozier will
speak about the power of the DSD community and its role with the retailer.
Following Doziers last
point, Kevin Krygier of AholdUSA will begin
his portion of the seminar and speak as a generic retailer about what retailers
are doing in regards to the data synch initiative. He will explain why
wholesalers are interested in working on a solution and some of the efficiencies
that beer wholesalers will experience as a result of data synchronization.
Finally, Krygier will address why retailers are involved in the data synch
process and why it is important to all three
tiers.
The last
presenter, Ed Licul of IBM Software Group, will speak to the audience in a
generic way and provide a supplier and wholesaler perspective since Ed has beer
industry knowledge. Licul will explain what data synch means to a beer supplier
and wholesaler. Licul will address how beer wholesalers add value to the
supplier tier and keep the industry strong. In addition, Licul will discuss how
relationships work between trading partners, brand value and supply chain
value.
Each speaker will give an
approximate 20-minute presentation. Dress for presenters is business casual; a
coat and no tie for men is acceptable. Topics identified to be integrated in the
BIECC-sponsored seminar include advance ship notice (ASN), price
synchronization, item authorization, promotion, point-of-sale (POS) movement
from the retailer and communicating POS information back to manufacturers. The
importance of a solid foundation will be addressed as well as the disadvantages
associated with poor execution such as product refusal at the backdoor and
invoice discrepancies. There will be tie-ins to the white paper where
appropriate.
