ALEXANDRIA, VA – The National Beer Wholesalers Association (NBWA) is pleased to announce Phillip Terry as its 2007-2008 Association vice chair. Terry is the CEO of Monarch Beverage Co., Inc. in Indianapolis, Indiana.
NBWA is a national trade association representing more than 2,750 independent beer distributors throughout the nation before government and the public. The Association, founded in 1938, ranked 8th on Fortune magazine’s most recent Power 25, a list of Washington’s most powerful lobbying groups.
Beer distributors serve as the critical link in the American distribution system which allows smaller, more unique beers a vehicle to market and provides consumers with the choice they desire at a great value. They operate within a network of state regulations that provide transparency and accountability in the sale of malt beverage products to ensure the safe and efficient sale of beer.
As vice chair, Terry will foster and strengthen positive working relationships among NBWA beer distributor members and state beer distributor associations. Additionally, Terry will automatically assume the role of chairman of the board for the 2008-2009 term.
Terry has served on NBWA’s Board of Directors since 2001, most recently as the Association’s treasurer and chair of NBWA’s Legal Review and Finance Committees. Prior to his role as treasurer, he served as the Association’s secretary.
Monarch Beverage Co., Inc. is Indiana’s largest beer and wine distributor. The company’s beer division serves nearly half of Indiana’s counties with quality products from Miller Brewing Company and Coors Brewing Company along with premium imports and microbrewery products.
Terry earned Bachelor of Arts and Juris Doctor degrees from Indiana University. In addition to his tenure at Monarch Beverage Co., Terry has served as executive director of the Indiana Beverage Alliance, the state beer distributor organization in Indiana, and was also a partner at McHale, Cook and Welch, a private law practice in Indianapolis.
As an active member of the community, Terry is a past president of the Muscular Dystrophy Family Foundation and also serves as a member of Rotary International. From 2003-2005, he served on the Governor’s Council on Impaired and Dangerous Driving.
Terry currently serves on the Political Action Committee Board of Directors for the Greater Indianapolis Chamber of Commerce, the Board of Visitors for Indiana University’s Kelly School of Business (Indianapolis) and the Board of Directors for the Greater Indianapolis Chamber of Commerce.
