The men and women of the beer distribution industry play a critical role in efforts to eliminate drunk driving, alcohol abuse and underage drinking. NBWA works hard to educate legislators, the media and the public about these efforts and also helps distributors promote their responsibility initiatives in their communities.
Responsibility programs in the news
One way to educate the public about distributor responsibility initiatives is to educate the media. In 2006, NBWA helped beer distributors promote their responsibility programs surrounding major holidays by assisting them in producing press releases and distributing the materials to local media. All materials included messages about how state-based alcohol regulation and a strong threetier system are crucial to the safe and responsible distribution of alcohol products. A number of the press releases garnered positive news clips for beer distributors.

America’s Beer Distributors: Promoting Responsibility in Our Communities describes the many ways in which beer distributors across the country are working to prevent underage drinking and drunk driving. The brochure explains the importance of state-based regulation and a strong distribution system. It also includes details about the Sober Truth on Preventing Underage Drinking (STOP) Act.
