California Beer Distributor Maintains Commitment to Promoting Responsible Consumption
Harbor Distributing of Anaheim, California, is committed to marketing and selling the products it distributes in a responsible manner. In its most recent responsibility initiative, Harbor teamed up with The Anaheim Police Department and Heineken USA for the 26th Annual National Night Out Against Crime Event on August 4, 2010.
Year in and year out, the National Night Out event is designed to heighten alcohol, drug and crime prevention awareness, increase participation in anti-crime efforts, strengthen police and community partnerships and alert criminals that neighborhoods are organized in their effort to fight crime.
“Anaheim is a great city; we are proud of Harbor’s roots in the community and our contributions to Anaheim’s economic activity,” said Tom Reyes, president of Harbor Distributing. “At Harbor Distributing, we are dedicated to being a leader in the business community by providing great products, great service and great jobs. Thank you to Chief John Welter and the entire Anaheim Police Department for all that they do in the community and for their willingness to partner with us on responsible alcohol consumption programs. Thank you also to Heineken USA for their tremendous partnership and leadership in responsible programming.”
At this year’s event, guests were provided the Health Alliance on Alcohol Facts & Conversations book, a national education initiative to reduce the underage consumption of alcohol beverages through parent-child communications. The booklets are designed to provide parents techniques to help initiate conversations with their children about alcohol.
The distribution of the Health Alliance on Alcohol book series at the National Night Out is just one aspect of the active role the company plays in the community. On August 5, 2010, Harbor Distributing and Pacifico beer teamed up with California Yellow Cab and The Surfrider Foundation to promote responsibility during the US Open of Surfing.
The responsibility program encourages all US Open fans to have a designated driver, take mass transportation or utilize discounted taxi fares. Over 20 licensed establishments in Huntington Beach distributed $5 cab vouchers to promote responsible behavior and assist patrons in getting home safely.
“Every year the crowds get bigger thanks to the hospitality of Huntington Beach’s restaurants, bars and hotels. We are proud to partner with The Surfrider Foundation, Pacifico and California Yellow Cab to deliver a responsible message and encourage folks to take a taxi,” said Reyes.
