Iowa Beer Distributor Highlights Wide Variety of Beer Available to Consumers
Fahr Beverage, Inc. of Waterloo, Iowa, recently hosted its third annual “Beers to You and Gourmet Too” food and beer tasting event. More than 600 people flocked to Waterloo’s Five Sullivan Brothers Convention Center to be a part of the event which featured samples of more than 40 beer flavors and styles – including imports, craft beers and specialty beers – paired with gourmet small-plate offerings prepared by the top restaurants and chefs in the Cedar Valley area. Guests also had the opportunity to view a cooking demonstration by five of the featured chefs. Streeter McClure, author of The Single Man's Guide to Cooking with Beer, was also on hand signing his book. George Reisch, Director of Brewmaster Outreach for Anheuser-Busch, also was part of the event.
Beers to You and Gourmet Too was developed by Tara Sagers, the “Beer Gourmet” at Fahr Beverage, and the Friends of the Gallagher-Bluedorn Performing Arts Center as a fundraiser to support the center’s “Buck a kid!” program – which helps make attending live performances more affordable for children. According to Sagers, “This event has exceeded our every expectation. We are elevating the image of beer and showing the art of food and beer pairing to the community that supports the arts.”
John Hall, President of Goose Island Beer Company, offered his praise to Sagers and other event organizers stating, “Where else can you find the brewery, the distributor, the retailers and the consumers all under one roof having such a great time; you guys did a fabulous job!”
