NBWA's Christman Appointed to State Government Affairs Council Board of Directors
NBWA’s Senior Director of State & Industry Affairs Dave Christman has been appointed to the Board of Directors of the State Government Affairs Council (SGAC). SGAC is the premier national association for multi-state government affairs professionals. Christman will be eligible for up to a five-year term as a member of the board.
Christman is joined on the 12-person board by government affairs professionals from Walmart, Toyota, Kraft Foods, the Biotechnology Industry Organization, International Paper and other leading corporations and trade associations from across the country. Along with the five officers of SGAC, the board determines the strategic plan of SGAC, makes decisions on future programming and controls the group’s finances.
“It’s an honor to be selected to serve on the Board of Directors of the State Government Affairs Council,” Christman said. “Five years ago, NBWA did not have a presence in many of these national state organizations so it’s a real testament to how far we’ve come that we are now being called upon to help lead them. As a proponent of state-based alcohol regulation, it’s important that NBWA builds and maintains close working relationships with all of these state organizations, which often are the source of policies that later find their way into state capitols across the country.”
In addition to his appointment to the SGAC Board of Directors, Christman will be chairing the 2011 SGAC Foundation Leaders’ Policy Conference (LPC) taking place in Miami, Florida, November 19-22, 2011. The LPC is SGAC’s largest annual meeting where invited attendees include SGAC members along with the legislative leadership of all 50 states.
