Oklahoma Malt Beverage Association Launches PSA Campaign to Encourage Responsible Consumption this Holiday Season

The Oklahoma Malt Beverage Association (OMBA) has launched the first in a series of public service announcements (PSAs) urging Oklahomans to be responsible when they consume alcohol beverages over the holidays.  The audio PSAs, currently running on radio stations across the state, request Oklahomans to designate a driver if they are drinking alcohol and also remind everyone that it is illegal to consume alcohol under the age of 21.

OMBA intends to work with NBWA to extend the public service campaign in 2010 with announcements targeted specifically toward sports fans, students attending proms and graduation celebrations as well as lake and boating enthusiasts.

“As the voice of Oklahoma’s beer distributors, the OMBA feels very strongly about responsible alcohol consumption. That’s why Oklahoma’s beer distributors work tirelessly to fight drunk driving and work to ensure that alcohol is consumed only by those of legal drinking age,” said Brett Robinson, OMBA president.  “We’re hopeful these messages will influence Oklahomans to think before they drink, especially over the holidays, so that we work together to make sure our roads and neighbors stay safe.”

The PSA’s are accessible via the OMBA Web site at www.oklahomabeer.org

NBWA is happy to work with any distributor members or state associations to create PSAs for television, radio or print.  For more information, please contact NBWA Deputy Press Secretary Kathleen Joyce at kjoyce@nbwa.org or 1-800-300-6417.
