Andrews Distributing and L. Knife & Son also Recognized for Exceptional Efforts to Market, Promote and Sell Craft Beer
DENVER, CO – The National Beer Wholesalers Association (NBWA) and the Brewers Association (BA) are proud to announce that Imperial Beverage of Kalamazoo, Michigan, has been selected as the 2010 Craft Beer Distributor of the Year. The 2010 Craft Beer Distributor of the Year Award, which is in its fourth year, recognizes a beer distributor who does the most to market, promote and sell craft beer. NBWA and BA presented the award jointly today at the Great American Beer Festival in Denver, Colorado.
Imperial Beverage takes craft beer education and awareness very seriously and stands out in this important area. The distributor’s monthly day-long meeting is just one example of its efforts to further develop the craft knowledge of staffers who are eager to learn the intricacies and unique traits of each beer they are proudly promoting. Imperial also offers staff rewards, hosts trade shows geared toward the promotion of craft beers and employs the world’s only Master Cicerone ™.
Andrews Distributing in Dallas, Texas, was also honored with the Craft Beer Distributor Achievement Award and L. Knife & Son Companies, based in Kingston, Massachusetts, received the Craft Beer Distributor Recognition Award.
“The entrepreneurial spirit of craft brewers continues to add energy and excitement to the American beer industry, and it is this excitement that fuels the more than 1,500 breweries in the U.S.,” said NBWA President Craig Purser. “The craft beer category continues to grow thanks in part to the strong relationship between craft brewers and beer distributors. NBWA is proud to recognize Imperial Beverage, Andrews Distributing and L. Knife & Son as well as all the Craft Beer Distributor of the Year Award finalists that have helped strengthen the craft beer segment and bring American consumers the most extensive choice and variety of beer in the world.”
BA President Charlie Papazian added, “America’s beer drinkers are experiencing an unprecedented variety of beer in the marketplace. The exceptional efforts of beer distributors like Imperial Beverage, Andrews Distributing and L.
