Italian police break up counterfeit wine ring | NBWA: America's Beer Distributors

Italian police have broken up a ring producing counterfeit Sassicaia wine. The variety of wine comes from the coast of Tuscany and has become known as one of Italy's best fine wines since the 1970s. Counterfeiting is a constant battle for Italy's luxury goods industry, which includes foods and drinks. A 2018 report from the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) estimated a 4.2 billion euro loss in sales for Italian food and drink makers due to counterfeiting.
