Being Your Best Advocate
8:00 – 9:00 a.m.
Whether you are a seasoned veteran or a first-time attendee, every distributor will learn new ideas and become a confident advocate during this workshop. Hear from key Capitol Hill staff and NBWA’s professional advocacy team as they take you behind the scenes and walk you through the types of messages that resonate with Members of Congress. Learn how you can cut through the clutter during your meetings and how you can build lasting, meaningful relationships with your elected representative.

Winning the Summer Sales Season by Elevating Beer
9:00 – 10:15 a.m.
With summer selling season just around the corner and the alcohol marketplace more competitive than ever, get tips to help enhance beer’s image with consumers and increase sales. Learn how to focus your retailers on the value of beer vs wine and spirits. Industry experts will demonstrate how to leverage point of purchase opportunities to build beer as the preferred beverage choice in both on- and off-premise accounts. They will offer innovative ideas for selling against other alcohol segments.

Successful Advocacy Strategies with 21st Century Coalitions
9:00 – 10:15 a.m.
Surveys show that more than 80% of Americans are satisfied with the American system of alcohol regulation; however, critics of the three-tier system are working to dismantle this time-tested regulatory model. Successful state regulation is a result of a diverse set of stakeholders advocating for responsible alcohol policy. Come learn about successful coalition building and strategies to improve growing the community of state alcohol regulation advocates!

Tips for Improving your Bottom Line
10:30 – 11:45 a.m.
In times of tightening margins, every little bit helps. Efficient management of SKU proliferation, better health care benefit plan choices and improved employee retention are all areas that can help beer distributors increase their bottom line. Hear from industry experts on ways to cut costs and strengthen your organization. Attendees will walk away with ideas to make a difference in their operation.

Federal and State Regulatory Compliance
10:30 – 11:45 a.m.
Although primarily regulated at the state level, there are several areas where beer distributors must be mindful of federal law. Distributors are the only tier within the beer segment holding a federal basic permit under the Federal Alcohol Administration Act. There is increased TTB (and state) attention to trade practice enforcement and increased complexities in resolving TTB permit questions.  Distributors also have increasing issues related to FDA regulation of non-alcohol products and compliance with FDA registration. This session will address TTB and FDA activities that can have a significant impact on beer distributors.

Check out some of the highlights from last year's conference!

Each year, the Legislative Conference provides distributors with the opportunity to hear from industry leaders and to educate members of Congress about the importance of effective state-based alcohol regulation, the role of independent beer distributors and the regulatory, economic and commercial value that distributors deliver in their communities.
This video takes a look at why it's so important to bring beer distribution employees to Washington, D.C., to meet their members of Congress and learn about the importance of alcohol regulation, especially first-time attendees.
