Italian police break up counterfeit wine ring

Italian police have broken up a ring producing counterfeit Sassicaia wine. The variety of wine comes from the coast of Tuscany and has become known as one of Italy's best fine wines since the 1970s. Counterfeiting is a constant battle for Italy's luxury goods industry, which includes foods and drinks. A 2018 report from the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development (OECD) estimated a 4.2 billion euro loss in sales for Italian food and drink makers due to counterfeiting. 

New Hampshire's largest rooftop solar array under construction for local beer distributor

Bellavance Beverage Company is nearing completion of a new distribution center that will be home to the largest rooftop solar array in N.H. Approximately 115,000 square feet of roof will be covered by 3,088 solar panels when the project is complete. The energy produced by the panels will cover more than all of the building's energy needs over the course of the year.

Heineken fined for allegedly forcing pubs to sell 'unreasonable' amounts of beer

Heineken's pub business is set to pay nearly $2.6 million for allegedly restricting the sale of competitor beers. For three years, Star Pubs and Bars, which operates Heineken's U.K. pub arm, limited pub owners who tried to serve products from different brewers, violating U.K. rules. Read more on the story here.

NBWA presents Life Service Award to America's entire beer distribution workforce

Last week, the National Beer Wholesalers Association (NBWA) honored the entire beer distribution workforce with the Life Service Award for their hard work and perseverance in the face of the COVID-19 pandemic. “This year our industry has been tested like never before,” said Michael Schilleci, former NBWA chairman and Supreme Beverage Co. president, when presenting the award.
