By: Eric Bassingthwaighte, Principal at Fuel Risk Management Coincidently, I am writing this article on August 24, 2015, or “Black Monday” (the term the media used). If you can recall the day, “Black Monday” involved price dislocations early in the trading session which caused panic selling then buying as weakness in Asia rippled through Europe and eventually to the U.S. affecting our equity, commodity and currency markets. What does this have to do with the beer industry? Everything or nothing at all depending on your perspective, but I would argue that these “shock” events occurring...

By: Ginger Johnson, Women Enjoying Beer You want female buyers and female consumers. Females purchase the lion’s share of goods and services in America: solidly 75-85 percent across all categories. The buyer and the consumer are not one and the same. Women shop differently than men and neither is superior or “better.” Smart businesses recognize differences in purchasing habits and considerations for women and men. These differences have a big impact on what you sell and what you don’t sell and to whom. So what’s a distributor to do to earn more female market share and their dollars? Here are...

By: Ed Potkay, VP of Sales for EPIC Worldwide Why are distributors moving away from traditional decals for their fleets? In short, money and time. Many suppliers are cutting back on their reimbursements but still want distributors to display their latest campaigns, and most still want them changed every two or three years. The distributor has to pay for not only the decal removal of the old graphic but, in most cases, to paint and fix dings, dents and scrapes. It’s a costly venture, which incurs downtime of distributor assets while they should be out in the streets making distributors money...
