ALEXANDRIA, Va. – Brewers Association (BA) President & CEO Bob Pease will join National Beer Wholesalers Association (NBWA) President & CEO Craig Purser for a conversation during NBWA’s 79th Annual Convention, September 25 – 28, at the Hyatt Regency Chicago in Chicago, Illinois. Pease will be part of the general session program on Tuesday, September 27.

Pease and Purser will address several issues including the importance of distributors operating independently; the value of the three-tier system to craft brewers; and how the BA and NBWA can work together on issues impacting the industry. The pair also will discuss if the craft segment is really slowing down, as some media reports have indicated, or if some brewers are experiencing market saturation.

“Today, American consumers are enjoying unprecedented selection, offered by more than 4,000 breweries,” Purser said. “Craft sales continue to grow significantly and represent more than 10 percent of the U.S. beer market. The winner is the American consumer, who now enjoys an incredibly broad spectrum of innovative, independently produced beer products for every taste.”

“The U.S. beer industry is thriving because of a robust and competitive system of independent distribution that gives brewers of all sizes access to market,” Purser continued. “Distributors are supporting the growth of new brewers and helping start-up, local brewers reach new markets and new consumers. A survey of NBWA members revealed that 94 percent of distributors added at least one new brewer partner in the past year.”

Pease was named CEO of the BA in 2014 after serving in several positions since he joined the BA in 1993, holding a wide range of positions along the way. As president & CEO, he now is responsible for government relations, personnel administration, export development and internal operations of the BA.

In addition to general session programming, NBWA’s 79th Annual Convention will feature 18 education seminars taught by the industry’s leading experts and a two-day Product Demonstration Showcase filled with vendors featuring innovative products and services for beer distributors.
