College City Beverage Recognized for Outstanding Communications and Public Affairs Initiatives
Las Vegas, Nev. – The National Beer Wholesalers Association (NBWA) honored a few of the most talented beer industry leaders during NBWA’s 80th Annual Convention and Trade Show, taking place Oct. 8-11, 2017, in Las Vegas, Nev. NBWA’s Public Affairs Award, which recognizes a company that effectively uses communications initiatives to advocate for and promote the beer distribution industry, was presented to College City Beverage of Dundas, Minn.
“College City Beverage stands out when it comes to promoting the value that beer distributors deliver to Minnesota’s communities and consumers,” said NBWA President & CEO Craig Purser. “While most distributors work closely with brewers and retailers to promote new brands through point-of-sale promotional efforts and marketing efforts, College City also works to build brands through creative public relations projects and influential media initiatives.”
Family-owned and -operated College City distributes more than 1,300 products and 1,500 SKUs. The company works to build these brands – of all sizes – through its PR and digital media strategies.
“From their informative, user-friendly website to their strong social media presence, College City has invested in communicating the best of what America’s beer industry and the independent distribution system have to offer,” said Purser. “College City consistently updates their social media platforms with posts about the company’s stand-out employees, featured accounts, community service efforts, visits with members of Congress and, of course, beer.”
Purser continued, “College City also finds value in using creative PR initiatives to build brands and build relationships with brewer partners, retail partners and their hometown community.”
Each month, College City features a new retail partner on their blog and social media channels. The distributor tells the story of their retail partner, and many of them are family-owned businesses like College City.
The distributor also highlights employees through its “Crowned Kings of the Month” program, which tells the story of three employees each month, and showcases their role in the company. College City also produces “Meet the Team” blog posts, where different employees are spotlighted.
“College City also takes pride in each and every one of its employees. They truly value and care about the people they hire to help deliver beer to the men and women of Minnesota,” Purser said.
The National Beer Wholesalers Association (NBWA) represents the interests of America’s more than 3,000 licensed, independent beer distributor operations in every state, congressional district and media market across the country. Beer distributors are committed to ensuring alcohol is provided safely and responsibly to consumers of legal drinking age through the three-tier, state-based system of alcohol regulation and distribution.
