ALEXANDRIA, Va. – Tuesday, the National Beer Wholesalers Association (NBWA) filed an amicus brief in the Supreme Court case, Tennessee Wine & Spirits Retailers Association v. Byrd. With the brief, NBWA joined a diverse group of stakeholders in support of the 21st Amendment which empowers states to establish a regulatory framework for alcohol.

NBWA President and CEO Craig Purser released the following statement:

“This week, a cross-section of America took action to support the 21st Amendment and the important role it plays in protecting public safety, advancing consumer choice and promoting competition. These associations and organizations representing Main Street businesses, consumers, law enforcement, state government and public health weighed in to reaffirm the important role state regulation of alcohol has played for decades. NBWA will continue to advocate for the three-tier system and the ability of states to establish alcohol regulations within their borders.”
