ALEXANDRIA, VA – The 19th Annual NBWA/BREWERS Joint Legislative Conference, to be held March 29 – April 1 in the nation’s capital, will feature a powerful line-up of speakers including the Department of the Treasury’s Alcohol Tax & Trade Bureau (TTB) Administrator John Manfreda. Manfreda will speak to attendees about TTB initiatives and programs under the Obama administration.
“We’re proud to have Administrator Manfreda joining us at this year’s Legislative Conference. As the leader of the federal bureau responsible for regulating the beer industry, he has tremendous insight into the future of federal regulations of the beer industry,” said NBWA President Craig Purser. “No doubt Administrator Manfreda will have important information that everyone in the beer industry will want to hear. We’ll all be paying special attention to his remarks.”
As TTB Administrator, Manfreda manages the federal alcohol permit systems for suppliers and distributors and the federal regulations created for the alcoholic beverage industry by the Federal Alcohol Administration (FAA) Act. Additionally, Manfreda supervises the collection of over $14 billion a year in federal alcohol, tobacco, firearms and ammunition excise taxes. Manfreda has 33 years of experience in the field of alcohol law and regulation, including a stint as chief counsel to the Bureau of Alcohol, Tobacco and Firearms (ATF), the predecessor agency to the TTB.
Manfreda is scheduled to speak at 8:00 a.m. on Tuesday, March 31 at the Hyatt Regency Washington on Capitol Hill.
Additionally, leaders from the National Beer Wholesalers Association (NBWA), Beer Institute (BI), Brewers Association (BA) and National Association of Beverage Importers (NABI) will comment on the current environment and the future of the beer industry.
