Today, the National Beer Wholesalers Association (NBWA) released the Beer Purchasers’ Index (BPI) for September 2019. The index surveys beer distributors’ purchases across different segments and compares them to previous years. A reading greater than 50 indicates the segment is expanding, while a reading below 50 indicates the segment is contracting. The total beer index rose to 58 for September 2019 from 46 in September 2018. Compared to all September readings over the past five years, this marks an improving trend over 2016, 2017 and 2018.
