According to Commerce Department trade data released October 3, total August volumes were up 15.2 percent compared to August 2013. This is the third straight month of double digit increases for imports this year. This month’s gains came from Mexico, Germany and the Netherlands. Year to date volumes through August are now +7.6 percent higher. The eight countries in the table below represent 97 percent of all imported beer into the U.S.
This is more good news for the industry. As of August 2014, combined domestic and import volumes are now +0.6 percent higher than the same time last year.
